August 2026 Newsletter

Three and a half years ago, United Way Simcoe Muskoka launched a Strategic Plan that guided our work through the spring of 2026. During this period, we focused on four key priorities:

  • Building capacity to meet the needs of our communities
  • Increasing awareness of United Way Simcoe Muskoka’s impact across the region
  • Strengthening communities through strategic funding and partnership opportunities
  • Driving long-term systemic change through advocacy and education

As we reflect on this journey, there is much to be proud of.

Together, we increased staff retention and strengthened our financial position, ensuring our ability to meet both current and future commitments to the communities we serve. We secured funding that helped connect communities with more than $37.5 million to address complex social issues. We created opportunities for meaningful dialogue through initiatives such as the Real2Reel Film Festival, the Resilience Rising podcast in partnership with CFS Counselling + Wellbeing, and the annual ReThink Poverty Symposium.

We also expanded our reach and engagement by doubling our social media following, launching a regular e-newsletter, and creating more opportunities for volunteers to contribute to building stronger communities.

As we enter a new strategic planning cycle, we have an exciting opportunity to shape the future of our organization and the impact we will have across Simcoe Muskoka in the years ahead. Your insights, ideas, and experiences will be vital to this process, and we look forward to engaging you along the way.

Your United Way in Action

What a summer it has been! Over the past few weeks, our community came together for three incredible events: Pack the Park, Hockey Night in Muskoka, and the District Chair’s Dock Party.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Pack the Park to cheer on the Barrie Baycats, participate in the 50/50, donate, and show your support for our community.

District Chair’s Dock Party: We wrapped up the month with an incredible evening at the District Chair’s Dock Party. Thank you to everyone who attended, volunteered, sponsored, and helped make the event a success.

Hockey Night in Muskoka: We loved bringing the community together for a night of hockey, connection, and support alongside local charities and organizations. Thank you to everyone who came out.

Thank you.

Three events, countless community members, and one shared commitment to making our communities stronger.

Thank you for showing up, supporting local, and being part of the United Way Simcoe Muskoka community!
