United Way Simcoe Muskoka upholds the values set out in the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) www.aoda.ca and is dedicated to fulfilling its obligations under the Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation (IASR). Through ongoing efforts to identify and eliminate barriers, we strive to ensure that people with disabilities are provided fair and equitable accommodation.
We have utilized guidelines issued by the Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) to implement functional improvements to uwsimcoemuskoka.ca. While we strive to make our website as accessible as possible and to meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 guidelines, our pages may not always pass online validation tools. Similarly, some third-party hosted content presented contextually on our sites via iFrames or other technologies, including event forms and other applications, is out of our control but we regularly monitor these sections, and look to develop accessible solutions as technology improves. We also encourage our partners and vendors to comply with industry-wide accessibility standards as part of our business relationship.
Some of our content is in PDF format only. We are working towards reducing our dependence on PDFs for use on our web site. If you require these documents in an alternative format we will make them available upon request.
This website contains a third-party plugin, also known as a Widget, called AccessiBe which is powered by this third party’s dedicated accessibility server. Use of this Widget can improve website access for some users, particularly related to certain type of disabilities. AccessiBe has stated that its application makes efforts to follow to some degree the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1). On our website, the AccessiBe widget is located in the lower right corner on desktop screens and along the right side on mobile devices.
The accessibility menu can be enabled by clicking the accessibility menu icon that appears after clicking on the Widget described above. After triggering the accessibility menu, please wait a moment for the accessibility menu to load in its entirety.
