22 Nov Putting the fun in fundraising
Hallowe’en costume and pumpkin-carving contests are a couple of spirited activities that wrap up Innovative Automation’s annual United Way campaign. Pictured here from the company’s 2016 event are (from left) co-owners Michael Lalonde and Steve Loftus flanking UWSM CEO Dale Biddell. Another popular annual event – a pie-throw auction – kicked off the month-long event on September 29th. For the last 14 good-natured years, the staff, customers, suppliers, partners and owners of Innovative Automation Inc. have spent one lunchtime each autumn getting creamed for charity. Including that first year in 2003, when the fun-loving team raised $1,834 in less than two hours, a fundraising total of $149,952 has been raised for United Way Simcoe Muskoka through this event. This year alone, more than $20,000 was donated while pies were flying – more than half its overall 2017 gift of $35,000.
