November 2025 Newsletter

Across Simcoe Muskoka, many individuals and families are facing mounting financial pressures.

Even so, there is real impact in what we can accomplish together.

When you support United Way, you help provide immediate and long-term solutions for neighbours right here at home:

  • A family at risk of eviction can access an interest-free loan to stay housed.
  • An older adult wihtout coverage for essentials like dentures or glasses can receive urgent financial help.
  • Someone struggling to maintain steady work can be connected to paid training that leads to stability.
  • A person fleeing domestic violence can find safe housing and the chance to rebuild.

This is how we strengthen our communities, by standing together and investing in tomorrow.

If you have already donated, thank you for being part of that change. If you haven’t yet, please consider making a gift.

P.S. Did you know that many donors are shifting from cash donations to gifts of securities? This often not only allows the donor to increase their contribution, but also has a financial benefit to the donor themselves. To learn more, reach out to your bank or financial manager.

Holiday Magic in Action

This past Saturday, United Way Simcoe Muskoka hosted its annual “Holiday With A Hero” event, a day dedicated to creating joyful holiday memories for 80 vulnerable children in our community. Over 130 incredible volunteers and “heroes in uniform”, including firefighters, paramedics, police, and military personnel, came together to make this a truly unforgettable experience. From shopping to shared meals to unforgettable conversations. Saturday’s event was filled with joy, connection, and pure magic.

We are deeply grateful to our sponsors, whose generosity made this magical day possible:

Honda Canada Foundation, IG Wealth Management, Attitude Print, Teresa Mitchell, Walmart, YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, RBC, Handyman4Hire, Quota, Orillia Fire Full Time Local 1100, Barrie Fire Community Projects, Innisfil Lions Club, Sweet B’s, Casal Catering, and Scaraoke Entertainment.

.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the dedicated heroes who joined us from Innisfil Fire, County of Simcoe Paramedic Services, Base Borden, Orillia Fire, Barrie Police, South Simcoe Police, Oro-Medonte Fire, OPP, and Bradford West Gwillimbury Fire and Emergency Services.

This is what community looks like!
