Over the past few months, I’ve had the chance to be out in community—connecting with partner agencies, local employers, and elected officials. What I’m hearing is consistent and concerning: needs across our region are rising, becoming more complex, and the organizations working to meet them are stretched thin.
This past winter served as a stark reminder of how fragile things can be. Severe storms and March’s devastating ice storm pushed many families already on the edge into crisis. At the same time, the threat of tariffs and growing economic uncertainty are making life more expensive and putting additional pressure on household and community budgets.
That’s why your support of United Way Simcoe Muskoka has never been more important.
We are providing micro grants and interest-free loans to individuals and families living in low-income households—offering support when it’s needed most. We are also funding innovative partnerships that tackle the root causes of poverty, housing insecurity, and social isolation—solutions that would not exist without United Way.
If you are already a donor, thank you. You are making a real and lasting impact right here in our region. If you’re in a position to give, I encourage you to do so. Your support helps ensure no one gets left behind.
Together, we are building a stronger, more resilient Simcoe Muskoka.

Celebrating a Year of Impact through The Art Engagement Project
Thanks to multi-year collaborative funding from your United Way, The Art Engagement Project has delivered a powerful first year, empowering nearly 1,400 students and educators across Simcoe County with messages of inclusion, allyship, and anti-racism through the arts.
With a focus on mental health and belonging, this initiative engaged 50 classrooms with workshops led by 9 BIPOC artist mentors. These artists brought not only their creative expertise but also lived experience, sparking meaningful conversations and inspiring youth to imagine a more inclusive future. A school-wide exhibit celebrating Black Excellence/Cultural Diversity and new artist collaborations were just some of this year’s proud milestones.
“It was such a wonderful experience,” shared Vice Principal Forest Hill PS, Sue Collingbourne. “Students were engaged and excited to work with real artists and explore important conversations through art.”
Together, we’re changing the narrative-one classroom, one conversation, and one creative project at a time.

The People and Partners Behind United Way Simcoe MuskokaÂ

What a beautiful evening at this year’s Warden’s Gala – Spring was truly in the air!
We are incredibly grateful to Warden Basil Clarke, deputy Warden Jennifer Coughlin, and the entire County of Simcoe team for choosing United Way Simcoe Muskoka as the charity of choice once again. Thanks to your continued generosity, this event has raised nearly $1,000,000 over the years to support local programs and people across our region. A special thank you to Sarah Freemark of CTV Barrie for bringing energy and warmth as the evening’s fantastic MC.
