Position Summary

The Chief Administration Officer (CAO), together with the Chief Executive & Philanthropy Officer forms the executive leadership team for UWSM. The CAO will contribute to and implement the strategic direction of the organization through oversight, accountability and management of Financial Services, Risk Management, the Call Centre, Community Impact, Staff Hiring and Retention and Outsourced Contracts. The incumbent contributes to the long-term planning for the organization’s sustainability through innovation, operational excellence and change management with a focus on growth and team building.

As the ideal candidate, you are a creative, experienced, self-motivated, flexible and adaptable professional who has the expertise and skills to advance the innovative functions of a high-impact charity.  Reporting to the Chief Executive & Philanthropy Officer, you will work closely with the Community Impact team to strategize, and expand our regional investments and strengthen our value proposition to donor and funders.  You will develop a viable business plan and diversify the client base in our Call Centre.  You will work with our IT/Research Analyst to translate business requirements into Salesforce – all guided by our objectives of consolidating systems, automating processes, improving decision making and securing stakeholder information.  Together with the CEPO you will work closely with the Chief Financial Officer maintaining financial accountability for your functional areas, driving revenue and contributing to financial planning. You will provide direction and guidance for employee hiring and foster an inclusive and engaging workplace culture.  UWSM outsources specific functions, and you will manage procurement and process.

 

Required Skills, Experience and Competencies

  • Post-secondary education in business or related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior management capacity, preferably in finance, administration or operations in public, private or non-profit sector
  • Able to analyze, develop and present financial statements, budgets and other financial reporting
  • Proficient with various database systems (Salesforce experience is an asset), Microsoft Suite and other related software
  • Adept in the fields of business development, sales, external contract negotiating and stakeholder relations (call centre experience is an asset)
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, performance evaluation and reporting
  • Comprehensive understanding of financial risk assessment and mitigation, cyber security, privacy legislation
  • Entrepreneurial, decision-oriented and solutions-focused
  • Customer-service oriented
  • Proven Leader with the ability to coach, motivate and inspire staff

 

Scope of Authority

  • 4-6 direct reports
  • Budget accountability (Reaching home, LEAP, UWSM Community Investments)

 

Location

  • Currently, staff are working remotely until conditions permit us to be in office
  • Expectation that the role will be hybrid between remote and in-office
