GenNext Cooking Class

Our Cooking Class was a huge success!

Thanks to everyone who came out to our first event

All seats were filled at our Mix n’ Learn Cooking Class. As GenNext’s first event, it was a pleasure to see such a great turn out and all the smiles around the room.

People who came to the cooking class got to help make and then eat some delicious food, including a breakfast burrito, Korean lentils, a mixed-berry crisp. We even finished the evening with a maple-ginger tea.

The food wasn’t just tasty, it was affordable; everything in the GenNext Cookbook is meant to stretch your dollar at the grocery store. This was a critical part of our message about food insecurity in Simcoe Muskoka, which we learned about throughout the cooking class.

At the end of it all, those who came out didn’t just go home with full stomachs; they got a bag filled with:

  • A reusable grocery bag
  • The GenNext Cookbook
  • Spices and ingredients to make Korean lentils at home
  • A box of Chickapea pasta

The cooking was done by Sarah Losier, a GenNext member who is also a registered dietitian. Admission to the event was the donation of a non-perishable food item that was donated to the Georgian College Food Locker program.

Special thanks to:
