Painkiller: Inside the Opioid Crisis Film Screening
Think opioid use isn’t a problem in Muskoka? Think again.
This nation-wide problem affects individuals and families across the country, but our communities see opioid-related deaths and emergencies at almost twice the rate of the rest of Ontario. This isn’t somebody else’s problem.
We know that education is the key to raising awareness and end the stigma of opioid use. Join us as we continue the conversation with guest speakers and a screening of the Telus Health Originals documentary, Painkiller: Inside the Opioid Crisis. Guest speakers will include Supt. Brian McKillop of the OPP and an individual with lived experience, who will share their own journey of addiction and recovery.
All are welcome! Admission is free, but please note that seating is first come, first served. Refreshments will be served before the film.

Why was this film screening necessary? The opioid crisis is hurting communities in Simcoe Muskoka much more than the provincial average. The pain that it’s causing across the county is not someone else’s problem, it’s ours.
One of the deadliest aspects of opioid use is the stigma surrounding it. Stigma kills. If you want to help, the best thing you can do is educate yourself about opioid use and help others understand.
